Self Undertaking Letter

A self-undertaking letter is a letter of acknowledgment given by an individual to an authority, public or private organization, or some other individual. A self-undertaking letter usually contains the agreement of the candidates to the terms or conditions of the organization in question. Also, a candidate can use a self-undertaking letter to give assurance that details (name, dates, address, qualifications, etc.) mentioned in any application or letter(admission, job, request, etc.) are true to his/her knowledge and that the applicant is aware that in case of false information, his/her candidature in the said organization would be canceled or nullified.

• Undertaking letters are strictly professional and formal letters, hence keep the tone formal and polite.
• Use proper salutation and greetings before writing the content.
• The first sentence should be of introduction and then the reason for writing the undertaking.
• The next paragraph should contain the acknowledgment from the applicant.
• Before ending the letter one can show gratitude for taking time out for reading the letter and consideration.
• Sign-off the letter with closings like “thank & regards” or “Yours sincerely”.
• Keep the letter simple and precise and refrain from giving unnecessary information.
